PRESS RELEASE November, 2011 Chilton Foliat pupils benefit from ‘highly competent and effective teachers’ says Ofsted ************
Donni Blackwell, the headteacher at Chilton Foliat Primary School, was delighted with the positive feedback provided by Ofsted, particularly on the newly appointed and committed teaching staff. 90% of lesson observations were graded Good or Outstanding – the top two grades. The report, based on the school’s recent Ofsted inspection, the first in 3 years, goes on to support this by stating that the new staff "not only have good primary and Early Years Foundation Stage expertise, but also are highly competent and effective teachers ". "The impact of the sound curriculum and better teaching … are showing clear signs of bringing rapid improvement ".
"Given the school’s journey in the past three years, we anticipated the satisfactory grading provided by Ofsted. " said Ronna Bourne, the chair of the governing body. "The headteacher, staff and governors have worked relentlessly and this report validates that our efforts are being rewarded and we are well placed to improve further. "
"Rapid improvement has been made in the last six months, " confirms Ofsted. The staff and governing body are proud of what has been achieved in a short time during this academic year and the momentum of positive change and improvement will continue across the school community.
